Too many wants, not enough time...

I want to be an amazing wife who connects with her husband on a deeper level daily. I want to be a super mom who can devote hours of time each day to my child. I want to advance my careers, yes that includes Pampered Chef. I want to be the best homemaker who cooks and cleans daily. I want to be a dog whisperer who can solve all of our doggy issues. I want to be a sought after baker who can make the most exquisite cakes, cupcakes, and what not. I want to be one of those super creative people who can make anything look adorable. I want to put in my time at the gym and work my diet in order to have Angelina Jolie's body. I want to swallow my medicine and become debt free this year.

I truly believe that all of these things are possible, well probably not the Angelina Jolie, but I would be happy with healthy looking. I just can't seem to get the timing down to do anything! I am a person who craves a schedule, but I just can't seem to schedule my own life. When I devote time to one of my goals I feel bad for not spending time on other goals. I constantly think, "Oh, I shouldn't being doing this now because I should be doing...". Well, I'm tired of feeling guilty. So I need to schedule my life just so I don't have to feel guilty anymore. Let me break out the pencil and paper and I'll get back to you when I have it completed.

Thanks for listening,

Sorry for the absence...

Just when I say I won't let it happen again- it does. Sorry for my absence. You see, someone kidnapped my child. Well, not really, but it did seem like it. One night over this beautiful holiday break, probably about a week ago, I put my adorable child to bed and the baby who woke up was NOT my good natured child. A monster woke up, at 2:30a none the less. Pampered daughter has been getting two new teeth for the last week and both of us have been miserable! She was waking up 2-3 times a night, she just wanted to be held, she wasn't eating, and even started running a fever! Poor thing. We gave her Tylenol and Motrin, we held her, we rocked her, we sang to her, nothing worked. My nerves were shot last night and I had to pull out the baby swing. After an hour of fussing in the swing she finally fell asleep. She woke up once last night, quick few ounces of formula and back to sleep- until 8a!!! She woke up in her usual state of super happy and ready to play. Thank goodness that my Pampered Daughter has returned, oh yeah, and she has two new teeth!

The Y

So, now that we are less then one week away from 2011 Pampered Husband and I have been working on our resolutions. His big one is to finally put some roots down, you see- we have moved 5 times in the past 4 years. Mine, as always, is to make 2011 healthier then 2010. So PH said that we should join the local YMCA, it has a fitness area, a child care area for Pampered Daughter, family and community programs, everything you could want- plus it is less then 2 miles away from our home. So PD and I packed up yesterday to check it out. We got there around 9:15a and the place was hopping!

We met with the executive director, took a tour, saw and heard about all of the bells and whistles, and decided to go ahead and sign up. On my way out, I called back to the gentleman with one last question- is it always this busy? He said it is usually this busy between 9a and noon, thinking that I would never be there during those hours, I said okay and we were on our way. It really should have hit me- between 9a and noon? I have never been to a gym that considers that their busy time. Something was up, but what it was- I couldn't put my finger on it.

Fast forward to 2p. I decided to pack up PD again and head back to the Y to work out. It was still insanely busy, but now that I had time to think about things, while I was on the treadmill, I noticed something. This gym is made up of mostly stay at home moms from a neighboring area that I'll call Pampered Park. These moms are the kind of women who shower, do their hair, apply make-up, and get a manicure BEFORE hitting the gym. They were no bigger than a size 4, and wore probably the most expensive gym wear I have ever seen. Oh no! We joined a gym for pretty people! AHHHH! I personally like to roll out of bed, head to the gym in sweats, grind it out for an hour, then go home and get ready for my day- not the other way around. I also felt extremely self conscious because I was obviously there for weight loss and not for a social experience. Uh-oh, I hope this does not deter me from my goals this year.

On a side note, PD had a fantastic time in the childcare area. She is long and skinny and wears adorable clothes, so she fits right in at the Y!

When the dust settles...

Well, Christmas is now over, and all in all- it could not have been BETTER!!! I put aside my desire for perfection and cuteness, and lived in the moment. Wow! It was great! Pampered Daughter woke up around 6:30am and had her morning bottle then we opened presents. We took our time, let PD rip open the paper on her gifts, played with each gift as we opened them, and just had a fantastic time. All gifts were open by 8am. For the first time ever, Pampered Husband and I set a spending limit for each other, and we both blew it, but we ended up spending about the same. It was just perfect.

After a day of being lazy, it was time for me to tackle my worst enemy- a prime rib. A few years ago I decided to make a prime rib for Christmas dinner and I messed it up royally. I promised to never make it again, and low and behold, I found a new recipe for prime rib that I just had to try this year. This time around, though, I have better tools. My oven has this super cool probe that I can put into the meat, type in the temperature I want it to be, and the oven does all the work. It adjusts the heat and the way it bakes it. Finally, when the probe reaches the right temperature, the oven dings to let me know it is ready. AMAZING! I conquered the prime rib this year. It was delicious.

Many more posts to come about our pampered holiday.

Feeling Completely Inept

So, as I have mentioned many times before, I love reading blogs. I find myself drawn to cooking, baking, home decorating, and crafty blogs. I drool over Pizzazzerie, and my absolute new favorite is It's Always a Party at the Parkers'. I yearn so badly to be the most amazing stay at home mom, party planner, chef, cutesy person-- but alas, I am not. I am none of those things. I am a working mom, who knows a really good party planner, who makes Hamburger Helper for dinner, and pays other people to do cutesy things. I just feel completely inept sometimes. So as much as I LOVE reading other blogs, sometimes they cause more harm then good. Right now I just need to focus on being the best wife and mother possible, and accepting that- that is the hard part!

Such plans...

Ugh, I had so many plans for today but it seems that I have caught pampered daughter's illness. I feel like garbage! I am having friends over tomorrow to bake together and my house is a mess. I am also not in the mood for visitors. Oh well, maybe I'll feel better after a good night's sleep.

Okay, I promise this time...

Man oh man, I truly love reading blogs. I race home everyday just to see what is new on my reader. But I never update my own blog. Seems so silly. I have so much to share. I really should just start doing it. That's it, I'm going to start blogging again. At least I'm going to try my hardest! We shall see, stick around to see if I can keep my promise this time.
